The Cosmic Lens All-Sky Survey - II. Gravitational lens candidate selection and follow-up


Abstract

This is the definitive CLASS paper on lens-candidate selection and followup. The entire CLASS team are authors of the paper. Although I didn't do much actual observing for CLASS, my main input into the observational side of things was to make sure that the sample and lens-candidate selection were as well defined as possible, even if that meant excluding some known lenses from the sample, recalibrating all the observations etc. The survey itself, i.e. before lens-candidate selection and followup, is described here.

This is a pre-copyedited, author-produced version of an article accepted for publication in Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society following peer review.
